Liverpool are set to take on Fulham at Anfield on Sunday and pundits have shared their predictions for the game, including former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp.
The former Tottenham boss expects Liverpool to earn an emphatic victory over Fulham and has backed Darwin Nunez to play a key role.
Marco Silva’s side will travel to Anfield on Sunday and look to become the first team to spoil Liverpool’s perfect home record so far this season.
Fulham will be in a confident mood after their dramatic win over Wolves on Monday but still face an uphill battle against the Reds, who drew 1-1 at Manchester City last time out in the Premier League.
Liverpool will be aiming to stay within two points of Arsenal at the top of the table, following the Gunners’ victory over Wolves.
Redknapp has predicted a comfortable 3-0 win for Jurgen Klopp’s side and believes Nunez will get himself on the scoresheet.
“After conceding early, that was a brilliant point for Liverpool last week at City. Now back at home, they’ll really fancy themselves to go on a winning run,” he told Bet Victor.
“Fulham won on Monday, I’m not sure how much they deserved it though. I mentioned it earlier, but I’m not convinced by either of those penalties. What I will say, is that Willian took both brilliantly. I can only see a comfortable Liverpool win.”
On Nunez, Redknapp added: “I don’t know what the argument with Pep (Guardiola, Man City manager) was all about but Darwin Nunez has been in great form for his country of late. He’ll fancy one here.”
While Redknapp will be looking out for how Nunez performs, ex-Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson reserved his praise for Trent Alexander-Arnold after helping the Reds record a morale-boosting draw with Manchester City.
Merson is expecting the same scoreline as Redknapp, with Liverpool maintaining their title push.
“Credit has to go to Trent Alexander-Arnold. I think he is the best passer in the Premier League. A lot has been said about him but he went and got the equaliser against the best team in the land last weekend,” Merson told Sportskeeda.
“He might not be the best in the world at his position because there are players who are better than him defensively. But on the ball, few come close.”
Speaking about the upcoming game with Fulham, he said:
“I see Liverpool winning this very comfortably. The Cottagers are not going to enjoy much luck against the Reds at Anfield.”
Despite Redknapp and Merson’s certainty of a Liverpool win, BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton pointed to the club’s recent injury blows.
Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota have been ruled out after picking up issues against Man City, but, like his fellow pundits, Sutton still expects the Reds to come away with a 3-0 win.
“Fulham got a good win against Wolves on Monday, helped by a couple of big decisions going their way. They will need some more good fortune to get anything at Anfield, and I really don’t see that happening,” Sutton said.
“Liverpool picked up an important point at Etihad Stadium last weekend but all three are needed here. The Reds are without goalkeeper Alisson and Diogo Jota but they should be able to cope without them. I fancy Mohamed Salah to score, and Jurgen Klopp’s side to win comfortably.”
