‘BECAUSE HE CAN WIN’: Gary Neville believes one man is keeping Liverpool alive in the title race

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has admitted that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is the only reason the team is still considered one of the PL title contenders discarding the teams recent performances.

The Merseysiders have redeemed themselves this season with their trademark style of football after last season’s disappointing finish.

They failed to qualify for the Champions League after finishing 5th in the Premier League and are competing in the Europa League this season.

However, this season’s form has been very different compared to last season. The Reds currently are in the 2nd place in the PL points table with 31 points after 14 matches. The club is trailing behind 1st placed Arsenal by 2 points.

After a dramatic 4-3 victory against Fulham on Sunday, the Anfield giants surpassed Manchester City who drew against Tottenham Hotspurs. The team also performed well in the UEL as they thrashed LASK 4-0 at Anfield last Thursday.

However, there are still some doubts regarding their form and performance.

Although the Manchester United legend believes that Klopp has the quality to keep the Reds alive in the competition, he does not see the club winning this season.

This is utter disrespect to the players who have been nothing short of brilliant with their performances.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, he stated,

“Liverpool I’m not sure about but then they’ve got Klopp, so I think that’s a factor because he can win and he’s proven he can win.

“I think Arsenal have got what it takes to win a league I think that group of players are very good. There’s a lot to play for but the more points dropped, the more confidence Arsenal will gain.

“What I would want to see is Arsenal and City in a run-in again, if Liverpool are there as well it becomes a three-horse race – great – but usually in the end, it becomes two.

“If it’s Arsenal and Manchester City again, it’ll be interesting to see how Arsenal handle it – I do feel like they’ll handle it.”

Yes, there have been many mistakes until now, but it is just foolish to disregard the calibre of the Merseyside players.

The team consists of veterans like Alisson Becker, Andy Robertson, Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and so on.

On top of that, the Liverpool coach has top young guns like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, Darwin Nunez and others who are certified match-winners.

Moreover, the club will sign some top talents in the winter transfer window to bolster this already solid team to go deep into the title challenge and possibly win it.
