Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that West Ham star Jarrod Bowen is ‘one of his favourites’ outside of Liverpool.
Klopp admitted that Bowen has hugely impressed him, sparking transfer speculation yet again after the Reds were linked with the England international in the past.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Carabao Cup clash at Anfield, Klopp said:
“In quarter-finals, everybody can smell the chance to go through.
“In a very busy period, finding a line-up which can go and go and go because West Ham are a physically really strong team. David [Moyes] is doing an incredible job, I have to say.
“They are good again, through in Europe, it’s really impressive. Injury issues as well.
“Playing without Antonio, and Bowen steps up in that position – probably my favourite player besides my players – it’s just great what he’s doing and how he develops.”
Bowen, who celebrates his 27th birthday on Wednesday, has been strongly linked with a Liverpool switch in the past and had even been tipped as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
While a move never went through, Klopp’s admiration has not faded.
Whether the German coach turns his adulation into transfer interest remains unlikely – especially considering that Bowen recently penned a seven-year contract at West Ham.
That keeps him in east London until 2030 – when he will be 33.
