Darwin Núñez has been in good form for Liverpool this season, with the Uruguayan forcing many critics to withdraw their comments, including former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes.
Núñez has shown the perfect way to answer Paul Scholes’ doubts about his goal-scoring skills. Scholes had eat his words about Núñez after the Liverpool player scored a great goal.
The player from Uruguay has been talked about a lot this season, but after scoring against Burnley, he made many people, including the ex-Manchester United star, change their minds.
Núñez scored the first goal in the game with a powerful shot after getting a pass from Cody Gakpo, helping Jürgen Klopp’s team get back on top of the league.
He’s already got eight goals and seven assists this season, and he’s quickly getting close to his total of 15 from last season. Núñez played at the front in Lancashire on Tuesday and keeps showing how important he is for Klopp this year.
Scholes, who sometimes didn’t think Núñez did well, said that the goal Núñez scored against Vincent Kompany’s team shows he really knows how to score.
Speaking on Premier League Productions last night, Scholes mentioned Núñez:
“He had a little bit of criticism from me before the game for his finishing.
“I did say (this would be the type of game for him), in these types of games, he seems to come up with something — Bournemouth earlier on in the season.
“That’s a brilliant finish, nice and composed. It’s the other ones, the simple ones that he seems to miss and the difficult ones he seems to put away.”
