Paul Merson predicts winner of this weekend’s FA Cup third round between Arsenal and Liverpool

Paul Merson has predicted the outcome of this weekend’s FA Cup tie between Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Gunners welcome Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League-leading side at the Emirates Stadium in what could be one of the most important fixtures in the FA Cup this season.

With the two sides meeting just a few weeks ago at Anfield, there will be hopes this time around that there will be an obvious victor after Liverpool came from behind to draw 1-1 against Arsenal.

And speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson has predicted his former north London side to come away with the win, with Liverpool set to travel to the Emirates without star forward Mohamed Salah.

With Wataru Endo also missing, Liverpool’s squad has been struck by January’s international tournaments, and Merson thinks Arsenal should have enough in them to get the win.

The pundit said when asked who he predicts to win this weekend: “Arsenal are playing at home and face a Liverpool team without Salah, so I fancy them to win this one.”

With Liverpool missing their star attacker in Salah, a player who has caused Arsenal nightmares over the years, the Gunners will be sensing an opportunity.

The FA Cup is a trophy the north London side have a proud and prestigious history in, and having not won the competition for four years, Arsenal will want to pounce back this season.

Indeed, no Salah is a massive boost for Mikel Arteta’s side, and Arsenal will want to get over their recent form with a big win in the FA Cup against a Premier League title rival.
