Bayern Munich Takes Lead Over Liverpool in Xabi Alonso Race – Insider Reveals Why

The future of Xabi Alonso is the most discussed topic of the town right now. Now, Fabrizio Romano has given a fresh update claiming that Bayern Munich may have an upper hand over Liverpool for the signature of the Spaniard.

The two European giants are on the hunt for a new manager. Bayern have decided to part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp announced he would be stepping down as Liverpool boss. Alonso is on top of the list of replacements at both clubs.

The former World Cup winner is doing a phenomenal job in his current spell with Bayer Leverkusen. Besides being 11 points clear off the top, his side are the only European team to remain unbeaten till now.

The desperation of both clubs to hire him as their manager is not a latent news. However, Fabrizio Romano now says that the Bavarians may have an advantage over the Kops due to their better structure. Speaking on his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside he said,

“The advantage for Bayern is that they already have a structure in place, whereas Liverpool still need to hire a new director. The interest from Liverpool is absolutely there – they still want Xabi Alonso as a priority target, but both clubs, Liverpool and Bayern, have alternatives as well. They have other candidates because they know that it’s going to be not an easy fight.”

FSG will be looking to a successor for Jurgen Klopp but they need to find a new director of football. Jorg Schmadtke, who hired Dominik Szoboszlai, has ran out of contract in January and his place is vacant at present.

Michael Edwards is a wanted man, and Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that Liverpool have made one final attempt to bring him back to the club.He would be an amazing appointment, but it’s still unclear if he would be willing to become a sporting director again.
