‘I DATED LEWIS AFTER A RANDOM ENCOUNTER’ – Why We Parted 6 Months Afterwards

Lewis Hamilton had a brief romance with former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Danielle Lloyd. The seven-time Formula 1 champion, 40, has generally kept his relationship status private over the years.

His most high-profile romance was with former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who was by his side when he won his first F1 title in 2008. The pair, who met in 2007 at the MTV Europe Music Awards, parted for good in 2015.

Way before he became a household name, Hamilton was involved with model Lloyd, who has dated several Premier League footballers, including Jermain Defoe, Teddy Sheringham and Jamie O’Hara. She married the latter in 2012 before divorcing two years later.

Hamilton and Lloyd met at celebrity haunt 10 Rooms in London when they were both teenagers. Lloyd, now 41, said they dated for six months but split because of distance and the demands of their respective careers.

“We were both out with friends, but there was a bit of a spark and we swapped numbers,” she told the Daily Mail.

“After that I went back to Liverpool and he lived in London but we stayed in touch.”

She added: “He’s a special person, but there’s no more romance.”

Lloyd recently revealed she has been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer. In a video post to her Instagram Story last month, the TV personality said she was “really shocked” to receive the news and would need to have an operation to determine if it has spread.

The mother-of-five used the opportunity to encourage others to see a doctor if they have noticed changes to their skin or body, which could be a sign of cancer. She said: “I don’t really know how to say this and I didn’t know whether to come on and say this but I just feel like I have to raise awareness about this happening to other people.

“Today I have been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer. And I just want to raise awareness for anyone who might think they’ve got something funny on their body, they see a mole that’s growing that’s not normal – please, please, please go to your doctor because honestly, you just never know.”

Meanwhile, Hamilton is gearing up for his maiden season with Ferrari following his high-profile switch from Mercedes, where he won six of his seven world titles. Following a largely positive pre-season test in Bahrain, Hamilton and Ferrari have high hopes for the season opener in Melbourne next weekend.
