‘MY OPINION HAS CHANGED’: Paul Merson now predicts the result of Arsenal vs Liverpool this weekend

Arsenal lock horns with Liverpool this weekend and former Gunners star Paul Merson has revealed his prediction for the game.

The two sides are both in the Premier League title race along with Manchester City. That makes this weekend’s clash at the Emirates a hugely important one, and Merson believes this is a must-win game for the Gunners.

Liverpool are currently on top of the Premier League table, while Arsenal are third, five points adrift of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Reds are having a fine season, aren’t they? They are in with a chance of winning the quadruple this term, but Arsenal will be hoping to spoil their chances this weekend.

The Gunners have now won back-to-back Premier League games after going on a terrible run. They have looked really good recently, but Liverpool will be a much tougher test.

Paul Merson has claimed that Arsenal will be out of the title race if they lose on Sunday. He reveals that he initially backed the Gunners to win, but after watching Liverpool destroy Chelsea this week, he changed his mind.

The pundit wrote on Sportskeeda: “This is once again a must-win game for Arsenal. If they lose, they are out of the Premier League title race and a draw is no good either, so they absolutely have to go for it.

“Before Liverpool’s demolition of Chelsea, I was quite bullish about this game and thought Arsenal would win. My opinion has changed now as the Reds were absolutely unbelievable last night. Chelsea weren’t great, but Liverpool blew them out of the water and could’ve had more goals if Darwin Nunez hadn’t struck the bar four times!

“A draw isn’t ideal for Arsenal, but I don’t think Liverpool will lose too much sleep if they share the spoils away from home.”

Merson’s prediction:
Arsenal 2-2 Liverpool

Liverpool have been the best team in the Premier League this season.

The Reds look back to their best after an underwhelming campaign last time out, and some even feel they are favourites to win the league this season.

However, Arsenal picked up a good point against Liverpool in the reverse fixture at Anfield, and they could easily have beaten them in the FA Cup if Kai Havertz and co hadn’t wasted all their chances.

Arsenal will back themselves at the Emirates on Sunday, and if they play at their best level, there is no reason why they can’t come out on top.
